Allianz Retire+ forms Retirement & Ageing Advisory Panel; driving industry collaboration and innovation

29 April 2021

Retirement specialist Allianz Retire+ has appointed a panel of experts across the Super, Aged Care and Retirement industry to form the 'Allianz Retire+ Retirement & Ageing Advisory Panel’. The Retirement & Ageing Advisory Panel follows the launch of the Allianz Retire+ Institutional business in September 2020 and the launch of Allianz Retire+ flagship retail solution, Future Safe, in 2019.

In convening the panel, Allianz Retire+ plans to collaborate with a group of highly respected professionals to identify and prioritise needs, trends and services across the institutional retirement & ageing sector. The panel will meet periodically with the overarching goal of aiding the delivery of superior retirement outcomes.

The panel’s founding members include:

  • Dr Deborah Ralston, Professorial Fellow, Monash University
  • Nicolette Rubinsztein, Non-Executive Director, UniSuper, Zurich & OnePath Insurance, Class Limited, CBHS Health Fund, SuperEd and Greenpeace
  • Sally Evans, Non-Executive Director, Allianz Retire+, Healius Limited, Oceania Healthcare, Ingenia Communities and Rest; Member, Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission Advisory Committee
  • Fintan Thornton (Chair), Actuary and Head of Institutional Solutions, Allianz Retire+

Panel Chair and Allianz Retire+ Head of Institutional Solutions, Fintan Thornton, said, "We are delighted to be working alongside an esteemed group of retirement specialists. Each panel member brings such diverse attributes and collectively, vast knowledge of the retirement eco-system".

"This panel will bring together independent views to help explore the latest retirement trends and developments; enabling collaborative dialogue to really help drive innovation within the retirement sector.”

The panel intends to invite key figures from the industry to represent the wider sector needs, views and market intelligence; while facilitating direct engagement and feedback on growth opportunities.

Thornton added, "The panel will initially focus on upcoming policy reforms, specifically, advancing retirement strategy to meet the needs of Australians in retirement; and member retention. However, the charter is broad and all-encompassing, as we look to continue breaking ground on best-in-class retirement solutions for the Australian market".
