In days gone by, retirement marked a definitive line in the sand; a hard deadline at which a person would hang up their boots and transition to a life of leisure, a life they'd live for the next 15 or 20 years.
Today, however, retirement looks very different. Longer life expectancies, stubbornly high inflation and increased interest rates have many older Australians reassessing their situations, with some delaying retirement and others returning to the workforce.
Allianz Retire+ research shows 59% of couples harbour fears around their ability to fund their entire retirement, while 68% of singles feel the same.
